This last weekend we were able to see my niece, Maya, play in her soccer game. I believe they only have one game left in the season, and we were finally all able to go and see her! She did a great job!

This week was also the 4th grade's end-of-year "program", which consisted of a wax museum, some songs and a square dance. I know, you're all wondering what on earth am I talking about. Well, the kids all had to pick a well-known person (in Kent's class, they were given a list to choose from; I'm not sure about the other classes) and research that person. They then dressed up like their person, and we, as parents, walked through the halls of the school (where they had all moved their desks) and pushed the button (just a paper that said "start here") on their desks, and they gave you their 30-second to 1 minute presentation (just like in a wax museum). The other 3 classes had the kids make posters, but Kent's teacher had them make brochures. Here are a few of the "celebrities" I met that day.
Kent aka Willem J. Kolff (who, as I'm sure you ALL know, built one of the first heart-lung apparatuses, developed the first crude artificial kidney, and oversaw the implantation of the first artificial heart!)

Kent's friend, Ethan, aka Kit Carson

Kent's friend, Carter, aka Carlos Boozer

Kent's friend, Josh, aka Karl Malone

Others that I noticed were Ty Detmer, John Stockton, Gordon B. Hinckley, Thomas S. Monson, and Chief Blackhawk.
And here is Kent with his teacher, Mr. Bradford (on the left), and one of the other 4th grade teachers, Mr. Crockett, known to the entire school as Mr. B and Mr. C.

Kent did not participate in the square dancing (darn!) so I don't have pictures of that! He did sing, though; they all did a great job!
Then, last night, I was able to take Kelsey to Provo to see her good friend, Megan, dance in her middle school's ballroom dance concert. I wish that our district had a ballroom program, but they don't, even at the high school level, which is kind of sad. If we had stayed in Provo, Kelsey would no doubt be on the team with Megan. Such is life, I guess. I didn't get any pictures of them dancing, but here she is with Megan:

Then, we also saw some of Kelsey's other good friends at the concert last night. Here she is with Matt and Kaydren. Matt was in her class every year, I think, from kindergarten up to 5th grade when we moved. He danced on the ballroom dance team, also. Kaydren was also in her classes up through 3rd grade when she left and went to a charter school, but we still saw her a lot until they moved to Lehi right before we came here. I need to see if I can find a picture of them from when they were in 2nd/3rd grades....it was fun and crazy to think that it wasn't that long ago when they were a lot littler! All 3 of us moms commented on that! Where does the time go?!?

Yes. Where does the time go? Megan is following in Shannon's footsteps. Did you hear Shannon made tour team for next year?
Only in Utah would you see Gordon B. Hinckley and Thomas S. Monson in a fourth grade wax museum. I think that is kind of funny - not in a bad way - I just find it so interesting! Only in Utah!
Kent is adorable as Willem J. Kolff, who I have absolutely never heard of. So I learned something new!
I love the top picture of Maya -- great background! And I agree with Amy that only in Utah would you see Gordon B. Hinckley and Thomas S. Monson! McKay did a similar "Living Museum" when he was in 2nd Grade. It looks like Kent did a great job!
That looks like fun, I am drawing a blank I cant remember what Haylie was in the wax museum. She'll have to remind me, good job kent!
Kent was so cute in those pictures! It sounds like he picked someone very heroic to represent. Sorry I am behind reading. I think the museum idea was fantastic. Oh, and I was so sad to hear that our district doesn't do ballroom programs. That would have been so fun for Kelsey! You never know though, maybe by the time she hits high school at the new high school, they will have it. I hope!
