July 4th

Happy 4th of July! Yes, I know I’m a little late, but it’s the best I can do!

We had a good weekend. Our friends from Vegas came to stay with us, and it was great to have them here! We started off Friday morning EARLY with the Freedom Run. Victor ran the 10K with our friend, Pedro, and Kelsey ran the 5K with Sandra (our friend from Vegas), so we were up very early that morning! It was fun to see them finish the race, and then we drove over to the parade route and found a place (along with the THOUSANDS of other people!) to watch the parade. Kent read a book the whole time (tells you how excited he was to be there), except he really liked the Star Wars “walking float”.

Later that night our friends went to the Stadium of Fire, and we went to a BBQ/swim party at our friends house (thanks, Justin and Nat!) where we had a yummy BBQ, the kids and dads had fun swimming, and then we had our own fireworks show! It was a lot of fun.

Saturday we went down to Yuba Lake to meet up with some friends who were down camping/boating. We spent a few hours there, came back home to shower (it’s very windy down there, and so much dirt blowing around!) and then went to Tucano’s for a birthday dinner. We were technically celebrating 3 birthdays: my friend, Sandra, Kelsey and Amber, although we were a couple weeks late for Kel and Amber. Better late than never!

Sunday, we just went to church, made homemade pizza, and then had Sandra’s birthday cake before they headed home! It was fun to have them here, and we hope they come again soon!

One last item of note. Kel left for girls camp on Tuesday, and will be gone until Saturday. I wasn’t home when she left, but I had told Victor he needed to take a picture of her when she left (tradition). He took 3, so here they are!

I’m sure we’ll have more to report next week once she’s back!

Hey our girls are at camp this week, too. I hope Kelsey got to meet up with Megan and the others.

I'm impressed that Kelsey ran a 5K! That's awesome! I don't think I could ever do that!

okay - here I am having a weird "small world" moment all by myself and I had to share!
#1 - this is Tonya (Zanne's little sis) from Colorado... Malinda tracked me down a few days ago...
so here I am checking on M's blog and I thought "wonder what Sandra's up to, so I click on your comment and zoom to your blog... then I see "The Gibson Family" listed as a link and click it just to see if it's the Gibson Family I know - whoa - there in row one are my teenage sons' best friends - This on top of the fact that Malinda's hubby is working with my uncle there in Cedar City on the Neil Simon Festival is making me think I really need to be playing more "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" since I seem to be connected everywhere :)
Hi by the way - your fam looks great :)
