Kel's Voice Recital

On November 10th, Kelsey sang in her first voice recital, and did great! Here she is with her teacher, who is amazing!

I accompanied all the students that night, and of course, the only song I had a mistake on was Kelsey's intro....so just ignore the piano player and listen to the singing! :)

Enjoy!

WICKED!!

Last weekend, Kel and I flew to Denver to see "Wicked" with my mom and sisters. SO AMAZING! Such a fun time! We were only gone about 36 hours, but grateful to be able to go! Here are some pictures!

Victor's time in the St. George Marathon this last Saturday!!! AWESOME! He improved his time from last year by 5 minutes! Amazing!!!

Some friends of ours who came down for the marathon had some friends who had some tickets they couldn't use, so Kelsey and I were lucky enough to be able to go to Tuacahn and see "Aida"! We'd never been there; I've wanted to go, but haven't been able to. And neither of us had ever seen that play before, but it was FABULOUS!!! If you haven't been, you need to go!! Loved it!!

On our way home, we decided to go through Zions with our friends. It's so breathtakinly beautiful, it's such a reminder of God's hand in our lives.

September 2009

We’re not too far into the month yet, but it’s sure kept us busy! Kelsey had auditions for the high school musical last week, which is going to be “Guys & Dolls”. She was 1 of only 3 sophomores to make call-backs, and was given one of the supporting roles as Carla, the Doll. The play is going to be November 20th, 21st and 23rd, so put it on your calendars and plan to come! For all my fellow Twilight fans, I will sadly not be able to make the premiere of “New Moon” because of her play, but that’s no excuse for you not coming to her play one of the other nights! :)

We were also able to attend another baptism last weekend, of Ethan, the son of another of our closest friends. He looked very sharp in his suit (which I didn’t get a picture of!), and it’s so fun to see all these kids getting older (and hopefully wiser, too!).

We were very excited to see BYU’s win last weekend (and also today's!), and are looking forward to a great season of football!! Thanks to my dad’s generosity in sharing his season tickets, we will be able to attend a couple of the home games, which is always fun. Hopefully we continue to play well!

I will try not to be such a slacker.....so hopefully you wont’ have so much to get through next time! Happy Fall!!

August 2009

I will post my Colorado vacation post later....I still need to get pictures off my husband's laptop and haven't done it yet....

My niece, Maya, was baptized on August 1st! I can’t believe she’s 8! It was very fun.
We also celebrated another baptism on August 29th, of Hannah, the daughter of some of our close friends.
It’s crazy that everyone is getting older, except for me, of course. :)

We had our annual Gold cousin get-together in mid-August; it's always fun to see everybody, and now my dear grandmother is living locally, so we were thrilled to have her with us!

Kent LOVES the swings!! (just like his mom)

This is my cousin's daughter, Lynette. She and Kelsey are very good friends; 3 months apart but a year difference in school. They are like 2 peas in a pod, truly! We had Lynette come stay with us a couple times over the summer.

Here they are playing the end of a Jon Schmidt song; so talented!

School started on August 19th (and no, I didn't get pictures of my kids on the first day of school....I know, I'm a slacker!). Kent is in 6th grade, the last year at Spanish Oaks Elementary. It will be a sad day when we can no longer cross the street to take him to school. There are 4 6th grade teachers, but the kids rotate every day to all the teachers (one teaches math, another social studies, another reading, etc.). I think all of them are great. He has a lot of his friends in his class with him, which is such a blessing. They are such a help to him (and to me!) and I appreciate all of them!!

Kelsey started 10th grade, at the brand new high school, Maple Mountain. It’s a beautiful building, and the auditorium is amazing! You’ll all have to come see her perform there sometime over the next 3 years, whether in drama or choir, because it definitely is worth seeing! She will be part of the first graduating class there, and I’m so excited for her. Very fun!!

July 2009

We had a fun Fourth of July celebrating with our friends from Las Vegas who were here visiting, and also my brother and his family were here! Victor and Kelsey, together with our friend Sandra from Las Vegas, ran the Provo Freedom Run that morning, which is becoming a tradition.

Kelsey was able to participate in our stake’s Handcart Trek, where they went to Wyoming for 4 days (3 1/2) and walked 32 miles!!

All their belongings (except bedding) had to fit in this 5 gallon bucket (which she decorated quite nicely thanks to her dad's vinyl machine!).

And here's when I picked her up. Dirty and exhausted, but still smiling!

A HUGE thank you to my friend Starr for Kelsey’s very stylish clothes!! I think she was one of the best looking pioneers there. :) What an experience -- I’m glad she was able to go!

Kelsey also got her Driver’s Permit and started her Driver’s Ed classes!!! Very scary! :) Not her driving, just the fact that she is driving!!

Kelsey and I and my sister-in-law Flor were able to go to the American Idol concert!! And we stayed after and got autographs of 9 of the 10, so that was fun. They all sounded amazing live, and I’m so glad we were able to go!! Very fun!

Our favorite American Idol: Adam!

We were able to go to Dillon, Colorado for a week with two of my sisters and their families, but I will make a separate post for that. Isn't it beautiful?!

My parents and brother, Tyler, were here for a few days at the end of the month. We love when when they can come and stay with us! We were able to visit with a lot of our extended family and friends while they were here, and we hope they continue to come back and visit us often! Here is my brother with two of his long-time friends, Ben and James.
