A Great Idea

On Tuesday, I got a call from my neighbor, Tracey, that her daughters, Megan and Lindsey, along with our other neighbor Drew wanted to do a lemonade/treat stand and give half the money to Team KenTZ. It seriously made me cry! Anyway, Victor printed them a sign, and today, since it was school registration and we live right across the street from the school, they went to work! They had all kinds of treats and drinks, and Kelsey also helped, as did Megan and Lindsey's older sister, Laura. They also had a jar where people could donate directly to our cause, if they wanted. Then afterwards, they walked around the neighborhood to get more donations for Kent. I was so touched by their enthusiasm....and they raised about $125! AMAZING!!! Here are some pics of the day, thanks to Tracey. What a lesson to be learned!

A BIG THANK YOU to all!!

July 4th

Happy 4th of July! Yes, I know I’m a little late, but it’s the best I can do!

We had a good weekend. Our friends from Vegas came to stay with us, and it was great to have them here! We started off Friday morning EARLY with the Freedom Run. Victor ran the 10K with our friend, Pedro, and Kelsey ran the 5K with Sandra (our friend from Vegas), so we were up very early that morning! It was fun to see them finish the race, and then we drove over to the parade route and found a place (along with the THOUSANDS of other people!) to watch the parade. Kent read a book the whole time (tells you how excited he was to be there), except he really liked the Star Wars “walking float”.

Later that night our friends went to the Stadium of Fire, and we went to a BBQ/swim party at our friends house (thanks, Justin and Nat!) where we had a yummy BBQ, the kids and dads had fun swimming, and then we had our own fireworks show! It was a lot of fun.

Saturday we went down to Yuba Lake to meet up with some friends who were down camping/boating. We spent a few hours there, came back home to shower (it’s very windy down there, and so much dirt blowing around!) and then went to Tucano’s for a birthday dinner. We were technically celebrating 3 birthdays: my friend, Sandra, Kelsey and Amber, although we were a couple weeks late for Kel and Amber. Better late than never!

Sunday, we just went to church, made homemade pizza, and then had Sandra’s birthday cake before they headed home! It was fun to have them here, and we hope they come again soon!

One last item of note. Kel left for girls camp on Tuesday, and will be gone until Saturday. I wasn’t home when she left, but I had told Victor he needed to take a picture of her when she left (tradition). He took 3, so here they are!

I’m sure we’ll have more to report next week once she’s back!

Fourteen

My beautiful daughter turned 14 years old yesterday. And I have to ask myself, when did this happen?! You know, being the oldest child, my dad would always say to me stuff like, "I can't believe you're 16", etc., etc., and I used to just roll my eyes at him. Well, I have to say, he was right! I just cannot believe that so much time has gone by! Absolutely unbelievable!

Here are some pictures from our party last night with our family and friends, and her party tonight with her friends.

Tag #3 -- Wedding Tag

Okay, this is my last tag! My friend, Maren, tagged me with this wedding tag. We just celebrated our 15th anniversary last month, so this is good timing, I guess. We'll see how good my memory is....

1. What date is your anniversary? May 8, 1993

2. Where did you get married? San Diego Temple

3. Who proposed and how? Victor proposed. You all know that Victor does screen printing. Well, I stopped by his work one day (I had never been there) and he took me in and showed me around. He showed me one of the manual printing presses, and actually printed a shirt right there. When he lifted up the press, the shirt had a pink heart, and said "Will you marry me?" Very unexpected, and very romantic! And yes, I still have the shirt! :)

4. How long were you engaged? 5 1/2 months (we were waiting for the San Diego Temple to open, and we were married the 2nd weekend it was open)

5. What was your favorite part of your wedding day? (And it can't be your husband!) It was a beautiful spring day in San Diego, and it was great to share it with all our family and friends! The whole day was great, actually, so I don't think I can pick a "favorite part".

6. What would you change if you could? Nothing comes to mind

7. Wedding colors? Royal blue and white

8. Do you remember anything special about your wedding ceremony? No...just that it was a great feeling and I think I cried, too

9. Were you clean or messy when you cut your cake? Clean! I told Victor he'd be in HUGE trouble if he tried to make a mess!

10. Where did you go on your honeymoon? Disneyland and the Grand Canyon (which was a spur-of-the-moment decision on our way back from California)

Okay, girls, now I tag Amy (happy anniversary today, by the way!), Gayle and Natalie!

And I was told I needed to put up some wedding pictures, but I don't have any scanned in, so I'll work on it!
